INTERCIENCIA publishes original Articles, Essays and Reports, preferably on the journal's priority areas and pertaining to regional development. Letters to the Editor on topics of interest or with commentaries on previously published material will also be published.

The contents of contributed papers shall be of the authors’ entire responsibility. It is understood that the material submitted to INTERCIENCIA is unpublished and has not been sent to any other journal or other means of diffusion.

Articles: These shall be original experimental or theoretical research papers, or reviews that deal preferably with a priority subject, not previously published and directed toward a scientifically sophisticated but non-specialized audience. Length should be a maximum of 25 pages. A summary of up to one double space typed page (250 words) and a short curriculum vitae of each author (up to 8 lines) should be included.

Essays: These shall deal preferably with a priority subject. Length should be a maximum of 25 pages. A summary and curricula, similar to those for Articles, should be included.

Reports: These shall describe original research results in any field of the basic and applied sciences and shall be directed to a specialized audience. Length should be a maximum of 20 pages. Use of English language is recommended, to allow widespread diffusion of the results. A summary of some 150 words (half a double spaced page) should be included.

In all cases the title and summary shall be, if possible, in the three languages of the journal, and up to five keywords shall be included. All pages should be typed with double-space, font 11 or 12, and consecutively numbered.

Tables and figures: Shall be numbered in Roman and Arabic, respectively. They should be concise, clear and legible, and sent in separate pages. The corresponding texts shall be included at the end of the paper.

References: In the text, references shall be made indicating first and second authors, or et al. if more than two authors, and the year of publication. For instance: (Pérez, 1992),…Pérez (1992), (Da Silva and González, 1993), (Smith et al., 1994). The references should be listed at the end of the paper in alphabetical order and shall include authors (ie: Rojas ER, Davis B, Gómez JC), year of publication in brackets, title, name and volume of the publication in italics, and page numbers. Personal communications shall only be included in the text, quoting the full name of the communicator. Notes, if any, shall be at the end of the paper, before references.

Contribution per page: Due to high production costs, INTERCIENCIA requests authors to provide, through their research grants or their institution, a contribution per published page. This shall not be in any way a requirement for acceptance and publication of the paper, which will be given by its merits. In cases of excessive length, figures or tables of exceptional size, or color reproductions, a fee will be established.

All manuscripts will be sent to external referees for evaluation. To facilitate the process, the authors should send a list of six possible referees with their postal and e-mail addresses, and fax number.

Manuscripts should be prepared in Word for Windows files and sent to:
